Sadly the percentage of parrots that remain with same owners is very little, due a number of reasons but mainly due to the fact they live so long and our lives change.
Its all well and good people saying, "You should have found all this out before you bought him", but we all make mistakes and it is rectifying the mistake that is the most important thing.
First of all, do not feel guilty! Most parrot sellers know what the problems are before selling you the bird and they never mention anything, its fine now that there are plenty of advisory services around but there weren't that many 5 or so years ago when you got yours. People had no one to turn to in the past so passed their loving pet on to what they thought, was the most loving family etc.
Now you don't have to do that, if it is something you need to do we can work with you and offer your parrot or parakeet a long-term secure future here at the centre, no one is ever judged and no bird is ever turned away, all we want is the same as you, a happy pet that can once again be a bird.
