Captive Parrot Conservation Program

Due to a parrots' sustainability in captivity being through longevity as opposed to successful breeding it is The Parrot Zoos understanding that if we are not careful, these fabulous creatures could soon be on the decline in captivity which could very easily create a pressure to open up the importation doors again.

Our predictions regarding the captive parrot world over the years have always been very close to what has actually happened and present feelings are that in a few years (probably see the start of it in 5 but in 10 feel the brunt of it) there will be a massive void in the parrot world of what we now recognise as common parrots.

Captive Parrot Conservation Program
Most zoos usually only exhibit 'critically red' endangered species, taking this into consideration the more common ones stand little chance, albeit we are encouraging and have successfully got a few zoos involved in exhibiting colonies of parrots rather than just individual pairs.

  • Are you a Zoo?
  • Do you exhibit Parrots?
  • Do you accept Parrots are an important animal to help people understand the catastrophes happening in their environments?

If you answered yes then you need to be part of the growing group of zoos who wish to help these fabulous creatures' survival in captivity. Click here and register.
