Hi Jaqui and all that have asked about the Greater Vasa parrots.
No they are not endangered just more the fact that people arent too interested in keeping them as pets due to the fact that rarely will one speak-pathetic excuse i know but totally relevant- and also they're not that attractive to most, i personally love the creature and really wouldnt promote it as a house pet due to its vast need for room, these birds really do like to fly a lot unlike most other parrots that prefer to walk ...

Now wouldn't that be something, me retiring early, I dont even know what age i am supposed to retire at anyway so what chance is there of me doing it prematurely. I think i am banished to looking after parrots for the rest of my life, i wake and they are screaming at me, i work and they are screaming at me, im even doing the blog now and they are screaming at me, no doubt when i get to bed they will be still screaming, well thats not true, just the Patagoinian Conures and the Red Masked Conures ...

Phew...i think thats the best way of putting it, everyones worked so hard this winter to make sure we are ready for opening, and i think we are there, yes there will be little bits of tarting up but generally its done. We have a delivery of substrate for the paths on its way as i type and hopefully this will all be laid down in the worst areas by tomorrow, thats the only problem with development and it happens every year, we have to dig up certian paths for cables and pipes etc but the weathers ...

What a lovely brisk fresh morning, or in other words blooming cold... yesterday my role was to get some ropes put in the south american enclosure, yes the same one as we were in putting perches up and getting pestered all the time, so this time i went in armed with my digi cam to see if any interesting pics turned up, it was all of 2 minutes before they started, i have no idea who it was that said parrots are afraid of new things or to technically name it, neophobic, they were into everything as ...

The guys have finished off one side of the new viewing area for the South American enclosure and i must say they have done an excellent job, now you can look and stay dry or stay cool in the summer, pictures below.
