The Quaker Parakeet is also well known as the Monk parakeet. Quakers average 29cm in length. Both adults green in colour with yellow on underparts; forehead blue/grey turning to brown/grey on crown and back of head; face pale grey; breast brown/grey scalloped with grey/white; stripe across upper abdomen olive/yellow; underparts of wings (flight feathers) pale blue; upper tail green, undertail dull grey/blue at base. Bill orange/brown. Eye dark brown.

Aviculture/Special Adaptations

Quaker parrots can make brilliant pets, can be very loving and gentle. However they get on brilliantly in an aviary with others or their own kind. They are the only psittacines that make nests in the way they do. Can be watched for hours while they nest build.
